2013 GO GO Gala: “The Future of Philanthropy”
More than 200 guests turned out for the 6th Annual GO GO Gala on November 14 at the Bel Air Bay Club, raising half a million dollars towards GO’s projects supporting orphans and vulnerable children worldwide.
Hosted by director/choreographer/producer Adam Shankman, the gala featured a moving speech by GO local hero Jane Ekayu, founder of Children of Peace Uganda, and a performance by Crossroads School music students on recycled instruments from GO’s partner in Paraguay, the Orchestra of Recycled Instruments from Cateura. An exciting live auction followed, including a winning bid of $5,600 for the recycled cello to musician and actor Robert Pattinson.
One of the highlights of the evening was an inspiring performance by Melissa Etheridge, who, in turn, was inspired by GO’s mission and supporters. “This is the future of the world,” she said. “The future of philanthropy, the future of ‘I have enough—I have more than enough—I want to share. I want to know that what I’m sharing is going to people who are spreading light, who are spreading love, who are making the life experience better for humans or children across the globe.’”
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!
