2019 Gala Campaign

An Open Letter to Fans of Robert Pattinson and Friends of GO Campaign

Dear Fans of Rob and Friends of GO,

When GO Campaign named Robert Pattinson as our first official Ambassador in 2015, we knew his passion for Giving Opportunity to children around the world would make him an inspiring advocate for our mission. However, what we did not expect was you. That’s right – you. Robert’s fans.

Over the last five years, we’ve gotten to know you on Twitter and Instagram, and we see firsthand the zealous outpouring of love and support for Robert you relay in every tweet, photo, gif and message. We have seen you nobly take action at his side raising over $100,000 to support every child’s right to education, health, safety, and love. There was no contract, no rules of engagement that required you to do so much, so consistently…but you did. You have helped improve the lives of so many children across the world, and we are so grateful.

This year, on behalf of Robert we are raising $15,000 for Freedom 4 Youth (F4Y), a grassroots organization in Santa Barbara, CA. F4Y empowers children both in and out of the juvenile justice system by providing life skills training, mentorship and continued support to ensure all youth grow into productive, valued members of society.

Your generosity will allow F4Y to expand their community of education and support and  reach 120+ more youth.  Join us in standing alongside these young men and women, believing in them, and supporting their personal and leadership development as they transition from detention into a second chance at life.

Thank you again for all you have done for children around the world…and thank you for continuing to make real change with Robert and GO Campaign!

With sincere gratitude,

GO Campaign

Past Campaigns

In 2018, Robert’s fans furnished the computer lab and library for Kibera Soccer Academy’s dormitory, so the girls have all the tools necessary to support their academic pursuits. GO Campaign’s grant enabled KGSA to transform one of their classrooms into a computer lab.  For the first time, students have access to computers and gain the tech skills necessary to expand their employment opportunities. These dorms provides safe housing for 75 girls experiencing severe abuse and poverty; KGSA provides them a safe place to live as they focus on completing their secondary school education.

More info on this partner: Kibera is the largest urban settlement/slum in Kenya. Kibera’s schools face overcrowding, undereducated teachers, high teacher attrition, and lack of resources to provide necessities including school lunch, water, and sanitary pads. Due to high costs of school fees and materials, many students cannot afford to go to school. The Kibera Girls Soccer Academy works to address these issues by providing free quality, affordable education to secondary school girls in Kibera. Since they opened, over 200 girls have successfully graduated from the school.

In 2017, Robert’s fans made it possible for GirlForward, an organization supporting adolescent girl refugees, to begin offering English language instruction, computer literacy training, and academic tutoring in The Austin Independent School District. This extension helps more girls to successfully complete high school and have opportunities for their future.

More info on this partner: GirlForward is a community of support dedicated to creating and enhancing opportunities for girls who have been displaced by conflict and persecution. We envision a world in which girls who have experienced displacement have the support and resources they need to champion their own futures.

GirlForward provides adolescent refugee girls with individual mentorship, educational programs and leadership opportunities, creating a community of support that serves as a resource and empowers girls to be strong, confident, and independent.

Roberts fans brought education to one of Cambodia’s poorest populations. The Cham, one of Cambodia’s poorest populations, face overwhelming obstacles in obtaining an education and subsequent employment. GO Campaign expanded the vocational training program and gave 100 more students the opportunity to learn English and computer skills. Together Rob and GO provided life-changing opportunities so that Cham youth can break the cycle of poverty for themselves and their community.

More info on this partner: Community Connection Cambodia (CCC) was established to help support and advance the ethnic Cham minority in Cambodia whose advancement has been hampered due to discrimination. According to CCC, 50% of Cham children graduate from primary school, and those that do are rarely encouraged to continue with their studies. They lack the proficiency in English of their peers and have never been exposed to computers or the Internet, greatly reducing their employment opportunities. This grant provides the necessary funds to support the vocational training school for Cham students in Kampong Cham Province.

In honor of his birthday, Robert’s fans raised funds that helped change the way girls in rural Nepal are seen. No longer considered a financial burden, girls are now role models and breadwinners. Funds expanded a peer empowerment and microloan program that develops girls’ entrepreneurial skills enabling them to increase household income and create jobs for community members. Girls are no longer at risk of being sold into slavery or married off and now realize they are not limited by their gender.

More info on this partner: General Welfare Pratisthan (GWP) is an organization committed to making lasting positive change in the lives of Nepali girls who are in jeopardy of being trafficked or have escaped from sexual slavery, to continue their socioeconomic and youth empowerment programs in the Bara and Parsa Districts and to establish 20 new peer-to-peer support groups in the area. Each group is comprised of 12-15 girls who receive educational and business loans to help them become independent, mentoring from their peers, life skills training, and knowledge to prevent child trafficking in their community.
