Mentorship. Safety. Resilience.
In our effort to reach marginalized children around the world, GO Campaign is also committed to partnering with Local Heroes here in the United States. In the United States, more than 16 million children (roughly 1 in 5) live in families with incomes below the federal poverty line. Children who are socially and economically disenfranchised are more likely to struggle academically, drop out of school, develop criminal behavior, join gangs, and fulfill the cyclical nature of poverty. Through our grantmaking, we are working to improve the lives of vulnerable youth in the most marginalized communities of our country. Since 2006, we have partnered with Local Heroes across our world with targeted projects designed to reach the most marginalized children.
Join us in our movement. Empower a child today.
Over the last five years, Texas has resettled more refugees than any other state in the United States. Refugees come without jobs, a place to live, or the ability to speak the language. Child refugees often have the burden of learning the language and culture quickly so they can translate for their parents and help ease the entire family’s transition. GO’s partner GirlForward is addressing the needs of adolescent girl refugees through their summer camp and mentorship program. GO sponsored their 2nd annual summer camp ensuring that refugee girls in Austin receive the support needed to be successful in school.
Thoreau Community Center, New Mexico
Thoreau Community Center in New Mexico was started after a tragic cluster of teenage suicides that took the lives of 15 youth in 2011. Since then it has been a safe haven and a beacon of hope for youth; their efforts have been successful: since opening its doors the suicide rate dropped drastically. GO Campaign is committed to ensuring that these youth continue to get the support and assistance they need to thrive.
Ferrer Foundation, Illinois
In Chicago, children are risking their lives just by walking a block or two to school. They are living in fear of the violence that constantly surrounds them and many lose hope and feel they are destined to die young like their family, friends, and neighbors. It is here that GO’s partner Ferrer Foundation is breaking the prison cycle by offering children of incarcerated adults therapy, support, and hope for a different future. GO Campaign is proud to support Ferrer Foundation’s efforts and strengthen the resiliency and resolve of these youth so they can have a future.
GO Campaign funds diverse projects that provide educational, social, and economic opportunities for the youth living right here in the United States of America. We want to continue our efforts in ensuring that every child has the opportunity needed to thrive. Future projects include providing counseling for LGBTQIA youth in Los Angeles and addressing gun violence in our nation’s capital by teaching at-risk youth art therapy as an alternative to violence. With your support, we can realize this and so much more! Join us.
We are happy to tailor opportunities based on interest and budget. But it always starts with a conversation. Some supporters underwrite specific projects; others support the overall initiative.
