Furnishing the Future
Thanks to the support of the GO Community, GO’s previous grant to Kilimahewa Women and Orphan Center for Education (KIWOCE) supported the construction of a two classroom school which is currently allowing 232 children with no other access to educational opportunities the chance to learn. In addition to being used for classroom instruction, KIWOCE also uses the space to conduct trainings and workshops for the larger community. Recently, they conducted a reproductive health seminar for 100 students and several community members. The response was so positive that they are going to repeat the seminar during the school holiday so that more people can benefit. Though the classrooms are being used, they do not have any furniture. KIWOCE will use these grant funds to purchase desks and chairs in order to make the space fully functional and an inviting space for youth and the community to learn.
