This grant supports the care and empowerment of children with disabilities in Moshi, Tanzania. The mission of the Gabriella Centre is to ensure that children with disabilities are accepted and cared for by the wider community through comprehensive services in early assessment and intervention, inclusive education, vocational training, and community outreach. The Gabriella Centre is currently expanding and improving these services. Earlier in the project, they had installed solar panels, so that the children would have access to hot water. Now, funds are helping the Gabriella Centre sustain its day program and vocational training services. The staff is proud to report that the youth are already gaining more skills towards independence, which in turn is helping the community accept these children and the many skills and talents they do have.
