Jobs and Advocacy
Bal Ashram Trust was established as a long-term rehabilitation center for children rescued from trafficking and forced labor. The goal of the Bal Ashram is to rehabilitate and reintegrate former victims of trafficking or exploitative labor through formal and non-formal education along with vocational skill development.
In December 2015, GO Campaign partnered with Bal Ashram Trust on their Jobs and Advocacy program. This grant helped support a vocational training program for 40 girls living in rural villages and 20 boys rescued from bonded labor.
Thanks to GO Campaign’s grant, the youth have been trained with marketable skills they can use to get employment and bring themselves and their families out of poverty. In addition to job skills, the youth received training on child rights and were empowered to become advocates in the community so that they can prevent other children from being forced into trafficking or child labor.
