GO’s grant to Life and Hope Association (LHA) for the Children’s Development Village (CDV) was used to build and furnish a library for the 45 children living at the orphanage. The CDV not only provides for all of the children’s needs (housing, food, education, and medical care) but also gives them the opportunity to be a part of a stable and loving community. The new library provides the children with a quiet place to study and to foster a deeper appreciation for literacy in order to enhance their education. Construction of the library was completed in September 2012. As a result of the project, LHA has developed stronger partnerships with two villages surrounding the CDV and a local primary school so that other youth and the larger community will be able to access and benefit from the CDV library.
