Orphanage to Independence Y2

Results: Interim Report

GO’s grant to the Lotus Villa Orphanage Fund supports their orphanage transition program that assists children leaving Luang Prabang Orphanage as they transition to either continue their studies at the university or find employment. Funds will be used to provide for the needs of 65 orphans (housing, food, transportation, and medical care) as they seek permanent employment in Luang Prabang. Without this assistance, the youth would be forced to return to their villages where they would have limited, if any, prospects for employment and no medical or nutritional support. By facilitating students moving into the workplace, we had broken the cycle of poor people returning to live in poverty. It  is also exciting to see that once supported some students decided to continue their education whilst continuing to support themselves by working.
