PAGE – Program Advancing Girls’ Education

Results: Final Report

GO’s grant to Life and Hope Association (LHA) for the PAGE program was used to purchase land and build two houses for the girls in the program. PAGE not only provides for all of the girls’ needs during high school (housing, food, education, medical care, counseling), but also gives them the opportunity for college scholarships or vocational training once they graduate. Funds to build the new home were raised through the winning bid of a meet and greet with Robert Pattinson on the set of Twilight: Breaking Dawn during our GO GO Gala online auction, and we’ve affectionately dubbed it “The House that Twilight Built”.

Construction of the two new houses was completed in April 2012. The larger facility has increased the girls benefitting from the program to 25 and provides space to establish a small vegetable garden to aid in the girls’ nutrition. LHA staff seek highly motivated individuals who desire to continue their education but were forced to drop out of school to support their families. Six PAGE alumni are currently enrolled in university studies with four more recent graduates in Septemeber as a direct result of the support and encouragement they received from PAGE.
