Safe Place to Study
Thanks to this grant from GO Campaign, the 400 students who attend Jacaranda School now have a proper library and study room. This new space gives secondary school students a safe and comfortable place to study sheltered from the blazing sun. Primary school students enjoy the space twice a week for story telling and reading classes. Before the library was built, Jacaranda could not accept donated reading books and textbooks because they didn’t have the proper storage. Now, the students have access to more textbooks and checkout books regularly!
Marie de Silva, CNN Hero and Director of the Jacaranda School, told GO:
“The library and the study room have helped the students improve and focus, and widen the scope of their studies with access to great reference books and materials. We are already seeing results, with primary school children improving in English class, and secondary school students getting better results in their national exams.
Many thanks to the GO community for playing such an important role in Jacaranda students’ academic achievements.”
