Support At-Risk Youth
Ernest Rehabilitation Centre Tanzania (ERCT) supports and cares for people affected by and struggling to overcome drug addiction as well as helping them acquire the necessary training and skills they need to improve the quality of life for themselves and their families. The two year GO grant has provided vocational skills training for 52 young men and women who are recovering drug addicts, paid school fees and educational supplies for 28 children whose lives have been affected by drug use, and has allowed for the addition of maize harvesting to the income generating activity program. In addition, GO’s support helped facilitate a partnership between ERCT, the Kilimanjaro Regional Social Welfare office and the local police so that when youth are caught for using drugs they are brought to ERCT for care. ERCT’s programs have had a great impact on therecovering addicats and their families, particularly the children.
