Attal is a GO Local Hero bringing education to rural Afghanistan through his organization, HESSO. He told me something that has stayed with me:

Since the Taliban's return, girls have been prohibited from continuing their education beyond primary school, making programs like Attal's more vital than ever.

With help from GO Campaign's monthly supporters, HESSO has been able to provide quality primary education to 270 girls in remote communities across Afghanistan. In a country where women are largely barred from employment and girls face an uncertain future beyond sixth grade, this work is a lifeline.
