GO on the Ground: Linda Children’s Foundation in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania

During his recent trip to Tanzania, GO Campaign Founder & CEO Scott Fifer visited the Linda Children’s Foundation, a grassroots project dedicated to caring for orphans and vulnerable children near Mount Kilimanjaro.

Led by Local Hero Hamisi Omari Nzuki, this inspiring foundation is working to protect children from abuse, poverty, and disease while expanding access to education. Years ago, GO Campaign provided seed funding for a poultry project that sustained the foundation for several years until a devastating flood destroyed it. Despite setbacks, Linda Children’s Foundation has persevered—showing the strength and resilience of the community.

Today, they are focused on building a new kindergarten and school on land they own. GO Campaign was able to provide a small grant to help begin construction, including a bathroom facility, but more funding is needed to finish the building and welcome children into a safe, permanent learning space. Currently, classes are being held in a rented facility, but the vision is to grow this new school year by year, starting with kindergarten and expanding as the children advance.

“This is such a sweet and inspiring project,” Scott shared. “They’ve already accomplished so much with so little, and with more support, they’ll be able to finish this school and give orphans here a real chance to thrive.”
