GO Gala Impact Update: Wrexham AFC Foundation & the “Power to Play” Project

Every year, the GO Gala brings together a global community of supporters united by a shared belief: that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive.

Thanks to this year’s Gala attendees and the powerful partnership between GO Campaign and Wrexham AFC Foundation, we raised over $1 million to fund grassroots projects around the world. These funds are already being put to work by our network of Local Heroes—leaders who are transforming their communities from the ground up.

Spotlight: ‘Power to Play’ in Wrexham

Among the many of the GO Campaign projects that will be funded by the 2025 Gala is Power to Play, a 24-month initiative launched by the Wrexham AFC Foundation with support from a GO Campaign grant.

What the Project Will Do

Over the next 24 months, Power to Play will:

• Improve and build 15 basketball and football pitches across Wrexham

• Create safe, inclusive environments for play and community connection

• Empower local residents to co-design the spaces through love.fútbol’s participatory approach

• Develop young leaders by involving youth in every stage from planning to activation

Each pitch will reflect the character, needs, and culture of its neighborhood, becoming more than a sports facility; it will be a symbol of opportunity, resilience, and unity for generations to come.

It’s a powerful example of what happens when global generosity meets local action—a reminder that investing in children’s wellbeing anywhere can strengthen communities everywhere.
