Better Than Any Instagram Scroll You Might See Today

I just received a WhatsApp message from Kazi, one of GO's Local Heroes in Kenya. It was better than anything I've seen while scrolling Instagram lately (which I admittedly do too much of), and I wanted to share it with you. 

Kazi leads Elimu Fanaka, an organization that strengthens rural schools across Kenya in a variety of effective ways. One of those schools just experienced something extraordinary. 

The video speaks for itself. The pure joy. 

What you just watched was a school receiving electricity for the first time in its 35-year history. 

For decades, classrooms were dark, even during the day, and unusable at night. 

GO isn't taking credit for this particular project. The $25,000 that made it possible came from two other supporters of Elimu Fanaka—which is exactly what we hope for. Strong Local Heroes shouldn't depend on any single donor. They should have a community of supporters who help them grow. 

The school is now fully powered and illuminated, with a brand-new computer lab for students—and a whole lot of joy for the children, parents, and community. 

Watching this reminded me how life-changing even simple things can be—and how surprisingly achievable those changes are when the right people have the support they need. That's what GO Campaign is really about: finding extraordinary Local Heroes like Kazi and helping them build lasting change in their own communities.
