Teenseed Africa CBO
Nairobi and Busia County, Kenya
Girls • Health & Safety
-
For too many girls, the first period means the first missed week of school. This project keeps 400 adolescent girls in class across two communities, Kiambiu in Nairobi and Port Victoria in Busia County. Each girl receives reusable menstrual dignity kits and a 12-month curriculum on sexual and reproductive health, bodily autonomy and peer-led prevention of gender-based violence.
Fund the full project: $36,000
Timeline: September 2026 to September 2027
Reach: 400 girls directly, about 200 more through peers, families and community leaders
Cost per direct participant: $90

Girls who can manage their periods with confidence stop losing school days, and those days add up over a year. A full curriculum gives them knowledge and a voice, and trained peers carry it to the girls around them. Before any session begins, Teenseed briefs local leaders, caregivers and school staff and invites their concerns, so each community helps shape the work and keeps it going.

Quinter Faith, Executive Director, leads Teenseed Africa. The organization started in Port Victoria, a fishing town in Busia County, in direct response to early and forced marriage, sexual exploitation and school dropout among adolescent girls. Thirteen years on, it brings the same model to one of Nairobi’s most densely populated informal settlements.
