GO Road Safety

First Eye Limited | Tanzania

In December of 2023, GO Campaign provided a grant to GS Community (formerly First Eye Limited) for the purpose of children’s road safety education in Tanzania. 6,500 youth were impacted by this grant. 

Based in Moshi, Tanzania, GS Community engages youth via radio programming and direct outreach to improve their health, safety, and well-being. In particular, the organization has used radio and partnerships with local schools and educators to improve the safety for youth navigating Tanzania’s roads.  

Born out of GS community’s investigative journalism on traffic accidents of young children travelling to school, GO Road Safety was one such program to improve traffic safety. Through radio programming GS Community was able to reach 3,500 area youth and another 3,000 through workshops at schools. From the beginning to the end of the project period, 3-week traffic accident averages for children dropped from 3-5 to 1 thanks to the programs impact. GS Community was also able to distribute reflectors to children as part of its Children’s Media Club.
