Full Circle in Kilimanjaro: Scott Visits Gabriella Children’s Rehabilitation Centre

Celebrating a decade-plus of impact with Local Hero Brenda Shuma

Guess who’s back in Tanzania—seven years later! 🇹🇿

GO Campaign founder Scott Fifer recently returned to Kilimanjaro to reconnect with one of our longest-standing partners: Gabriella Children’s Rehabilitation Centre, led by the incredible Brenda Shuma.

Gabriella Centre has been part of the GO family since 2010, and it’s a shining example of what’s possible when we invest in grassroots leaders. Brenda and her husband Anthony are creating a world where children with autism and learning disabilities are not only supported—but celebrated.

During his visit, Scott toured the vibrant campus—from classrooms and therapy spaces to vocational training workshops and the on-site kitchen. Every corner radiates purpose and love.

Brenda’s mission is both simple and radical: to ensure children with disabilities are properly identified, receive early intervention, and are fully included in community life. In a region where stigma and misunderstanding are common, her work is nothing short of transformative.

“Seeing the growth of Gabriella Centre firsthand was deeply moving,” Scott shared. “What Brenda and Anthony have built is extraordinary. It’s a place where every child is treated with dignity and love—and where the community is learning to do the same.”

We’re so proud to continue supporting Gabriella Centre, and to walk alongside Brenda as she creates lasting change in the lives of children and families in Tanzania.

Stay tuned for more from Scott’s journey across East Africa—more inspiring stories and Local Heroes coming soon!
