Meet GO Local Hero, Dr. Samira, a fearless advocate for youth living with HIV/AIDS in Mombasa, Kenya. As the Assistant Director of Medical Services at Coast Provincial General Hospital and the clinician-in-charge at Family Care Clinic (FCC), she is dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare and psychosocial support to young patients. ❤️

Growing up in a conservative community where women’s voices were often unheard, Dr. Samira defied expectations to become a doctor. Witnessing the struggles of HIV-positive youth and survivors of trauma, she committed herself to comprehensive, compassionate care. Since its founding as a pilot program in 2001, FCC has served over 4,200 patients, transforming lives and changing the course of the HIV epidemic in Mombasa.
